An effective board relies on strong dynamics, well-run meetings, and a clear decision-making process. This means having the right mix of experienced and diverse board members who can work together constructively. Meetings should be focused, with agendas distributed well in advance and all materials readily available. Crucially, decision-making shouldn't be a rubber stamp on management proposals. Healthy debate and challenging assumptions are essential to arrive at sound choices that benefit the organization in the long run.
